Collinsville restaurateur ‘overwhelmed’ by community support as he recovers from surgery
While Ramon’s El Dorado in Collinsville remains temporarily closed, I do have some really good news, courtesy of the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Carlos Otero Sr. underwent a successful surgery, according to the post.
Otero is “now home getting plenty of rest and recovery, and is completely overwhelmed by the generosity shown by the community he loves,” stated the post.
“Without your help, he wouldn’t have been able to take the time he needs to heal properly. But because of you, he can.”
The Otero family was not immediately available for comment, but their appreciation for the community was expressed in the recent Facebook post.
“Our family can’t thank you enough for the love you’ve shown for Ramon’s and for Carlos Sr. We hope to reopen our doors to you all soon!”
The restaurant’s closure was announced in a May 17 social media post.
The Otero family received news in April that Otero’s health was compromised and required surgery.
A GoFundMe page, established to raise funds for Otero and the restaurant, has already raised more than $30,000. The goal was to raise $10,000.
Ramon’s El Dorado, located at 1711 Saint Louis Road in Collinsville, was established in 1967 by Raymundo Otero. Raymundo’s son, Carlos Sr., and daughter, Carmen Rojas, run the business today.
