This Alton buffet closed with no notice, but don’t worry. They’ll be back soon
Golden Corral at 350 Homer Adams Parkway in Alton has temporarily closed.
A handwritten sign posted this week on the location’s main entrance stated they would be closed for approximately four months.
While there’s currently no clear reason given for the sudden closure, Lance Trenary, Golden Corral president and CEO, said in a June podcast with Sam Oches of Nation’s Restaurant News that multiple locations are currently undergoing a remodeling and re-imaging process and will reopen between now and the end of the year.
“COVID was devastating on the entire restaurant industry, but it was especially difficult on the buffet segment,” stated Trenary in the podcast.
The company has since “developed up to seven different business models” that include cafeteria style, buffet to table, curbside and delivery, and drive-thru options, continued Trenary.
A message sent to Golden Corral’s media team was not immediately answered.
In a quick phone call to the Shiloh location, which remains open, a number for a corporate contact was provided. A message left at that number was not immediately returned.
A location in Collinsville is also closed.
While the Golden Corral website lists the Collinsville location status as “operations suspended,” the Alton Telegraph reported earlier this week that the location closed during COVID, never reopened and has been officially closed since March.
