A popular metro-east bar & grill updates its menu, with 12 new items, plus 2 new sides
No-Jacks Bar and Grill at 4001 IL-159 in Smithton launched a new menu at the start of the month.
Owner John Lanterman shared the news on the Smithton News Facebook page.
The menu gets a complete redo once a year, said Lanterman in a brief phone interview, adding that an update usually takes place six months later.
The update is a refresh of the menu that addresses what items aren’t working and considers dishes with ingredients that are no longer available.
This latest redo has 12 new items and two new sides.
Lanterman said that six items were dropped from the printed menu but can still be ordered online or just by asking at the restaurant.
New items on the menu include:
Southern Heat Burger: ½-pound burger with cajun seasoning, applewood smoked bacon, cajun seasoned onions, pepper jack cheese and a housemade chipotle aioli;
Pork Paradise Burger: ½-pound burger with slow-roasted barbecue pork, American cheese and applewood smoked bacon;
Veggie Lovers Pizza: green peppers, mushroom, tomatoes, onions and black olives;
No-Jacks Backyard BBQ Bowl: bowl filled with mashed potatoes, pulled pork, hand-dipped onion straws and shredded cheese with a drizzle of barbecue sauce;
And a selection of footlong sandwiches: French dip, The Dagwood, Big Ole’ Buffalo Melt, Beef and Chopped Cheese and Chick-eel O’Neal Bacon Ranch.
Lanterman said that the footlongs have been what most people ordered since the menu was released. The French Dip footlong is the most popular so far.
In addition to new food items, a new cocktail menu was also released.
Lanterman said they didn’t have a printed drinks list before now and that customers really seem to like it.
Drinks include:
Jack’s Slammer: vodka, Southern Comfort, amaretto, orange juice, and splash of grenadine with a maraschino cherry on top;
Kool-Aid: Oh yeah! This one has vodka, Midori melon, amaretto and cranberry juice with an orange slice garnish;
Singapore Sling: gin, orange juice, splash of lime juice and grenadine topped with club soda and an orange slice.
No-Jacks Bar and Grill is located at 4001 IL-159 in Smithton.
