Popeyes is launching new menu items as part of a "bold" new collaboration with One Piece.

On Monday, the popular fried chicken chain announced that it's inviting fans to "fuel up like a member of the Straw Hat Crew" and releasing a "one-of-a-kind," limited-edition collaboration with Toei Animation inspired by the long-running franchise.

"For One Piece fans, the story is about adventure, loyalty, and going all-in for the things you love. This energy perfectly aligns with Popeyes and comes to life throughout this partnership with Toei Animation," Matt Rubin, chief marketing officer at Popeyes, explained in a statement. "We set out to create a collaboration that brings our bold flavors into the world of One Piece and its anime fandom, the kind of meal you'd want before setting sail for the Grand Line."

As part of Popeyes' first-ever anime-themed menu, the partnership will also include its own series of collectibles, in addition to the new and revamped menu items.

"Inspired by some of our favorite moments from the iconic One Piece franchise, we infused the experience with signature Popeyes flavor," Rubin added, "Whether you're a longtime fan of One Piece and Popeyes or discovering both for the first time, this collaboration is designed to bring that spirit of adventure to life."

Popeyes Launches One Piece Menu

According to Monday's press release, the new collab brings two all-new items and themed meals to Popeyes' menus. It also includes limited-edition merchandise that perfectly melds the two fandoms for fans looking to "claim treasure beyond the menu."

As for the new menu items, Popeyes guests can enjoy a new dessert, a new drink, and two themed combos.

  • Chopper's Cupcake ($3.99): A sweet strawberry cake topped with rosettes of pink strawberry-flavored icing and white sprinkles, the brand joked that it's "a sweet treat as lovable as the Straw Hats' resident doctor."
  • Gum-Gum Fruit Lemonade ($3.49): Officially described as a "bright, delicious lemonade inspired by the One Piece original fruit," the limited-time drink starts with lemonade and blends in flavors of pineapple, blue raspberry, and orange.
  • Luffy Bento Box ($7.99): It said to include two pieces of Popeyes' Signature Chicken and a side of Mac & Cheese for an "iconic meal."
  • Luffy Bento Bundle ($13.99): Also includes two pieces of chicken and a side of Mac & Cheese, as well as refreshing Gum-Gum Fruit Lemonade, and Chopper's Cupcake. Popeyes called the combo a "truly legendary feast," made for fans who don't want to choose just one piece from the new menu.

When Will the Popeyes x One Piece Menu Launch?

Popeyes said its new One Piece-themed menu will launch today (Monday, April 13) at locations nationwide-but only for a limited time. Prices may vary.

The fast-food chain's exclusive One Piece collectibles-items such as keychains, T-shirts, and bento boxes-will be available online beginning Wednesday, April 15.

A limited number of customers who visit select restaurant locations in Boston (304 Squire Road in Revere), Chicago (621 Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove), Los Angeles (7635 Winnetka Ave), Manhattan (1530 Broadway), Miami (1427 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach) and New Brunswick (571 Milltown Road), will snag a collectible bento box for free when they purchase the Luffy Bento Bundle on launch day.

What Are Fans Saying?

While the items haven't officially dropped yet, the menu leaked online this past weekend, and so far, fans don't appear to be disappointed with any of the menu items.

"I have to try that lemonade," one Instagram user cheered, before another simply exclaimed, "YESSSSSSSS😍."

Fans aren't as confident about the company's decision to offer freebies only at select locations in six cities, with one suggesting, "resellers are gonna be lined up around the block for that bento box."

"Wonder how much the bento boxes are gonna go for on eBay," another teased.

That said, those comments came before they knew the collab included its own merch line-allowing wider access to the bento box and more exclusive goodies-so, hopefully, fans are feeling relieved (and maybe even more excited) now.
