After nearly two and a half years at the Swansea Improvement Association, The B’s Family Kitchen has closed.

Monday was the food stand’s last day of operation, according to its social media.

Owner Ruth Blavesciunas said in a brief April 24 interview that she is stepping away from the business for medical reasons.

An announcement of the stand’s closing in social media also mentioned “exciting news” was coming soon. While a formal announcement has not yet been made, Blavesciunas confirmed a new owner will take over the business.

The Swansea Improvement Association shared on its own social media that the food stand will open under new ownership with the “same great food, same recipes, new name.”

The projected reopening date is May 8.

Attempts to reach the new owner through a phone number provided by a Swansea Improvement Association employee were not immediately returned.

The B’s Family Kitchen opened in early December 2023 at 216 Service St. in Swansea. The food stand was known for Mexican Mondays, fish Fridays fried chicken Sundays and its other daily specials.

Prior to The B’s Family Kitchen, the site was occupied by the Swansea Fish Stand, which closed in July 2023 and moved to the KC Club & Event Center in O’Fallon. Swansea Fish Stand permanently closed in January 2024.
