Here are the 5 highest-rated grocery stores in the Belleville area, Yelp says

Whether you’re new to the area or simply interested in finding out which Belleville-area grocery stores have the best produce, pricing and selection, you may be interested in which shops have the best ratings.

Three metro-east locations of one popular grocery chain made the top five for highest-rated Belleville-area grocery stores from review and ratings company Yelp.

Here’s how the top five grocery stores in Belleville and surrounding towns compared for May 2026, according to Yelp.

1. Aldi in Swansea

Swansea’s Aldi location landed in Yelp’s top spot, with four reviews and a 4.8-star rating. Reviews mentioned the store was well-organized, well-stocked and offered “fresh and affordable” groceries.

A 2025 grocery price analysis from the News-Democrat found Aldi offered the lowest prices for many staple items, including eggs, milk, bread, lettuce and coffee grounds. Aldi’s cheapest options were typically for generic products rather than items by popular brands.

Location: 1708 N. Illinois St. in Swansea

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

2. Eddie’s Meat & Market

Eddie’s Meat & Market was in the No. 2 spot, with six reviews and a 4.3-star rating. The local establishment offers meat products and prepared foods, as well as wine and other drinks. Reviews lauded the business’ “amazing soul food” and well-seasoned dishes.

Location: 1230 Kingshighway in the East St. Louis and Washington Park area

Hours: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, as listed on Facebook.

3. Aldi in O’Fallon

O’Fallon’s Aldi landed in 3rd place, with eight reviews and a 4.3-star rating. Reviews mentioned a good produce selection and lower prices compared to some chain grocery stores.

Location: 1635 West US Highway 50 in O’Fallon

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

4. Aldi in Belleville

Belleville had the third Aldi to make the top five, with four reviews and a 4.5-star rating for the location. Reviews complimented the store’s cleanliness, self-check out options and spacious parking lot.

Location: 1805 Carlyle Ave. in Belleville

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

5. Scott Air Force Base Commissary

The commissary at Scott Air Force Base was the fifth-highest rated local grocery store, with 16 reviews and a 4.2-star rating. It’s important to note the commissary is not open to the general public, and only those with access to the base, including active-duty service members, certain veterans and other qualifying people can shop there.

Location: 203 West Winters St., Building 1980 at Scott AFB

Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily
