Recipe of the Day: French dip minus the fuss
SLOW-COOKER EASY FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES
1 (3-pound) fresh beef brisket (not corned beef)
1 package (1 ounce) onion recipe and dip soup mix (from 2-ounce box)
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth
8 mini baguettes or sandwich buns
1. Spray 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place beef in cooker. In small bowl, mix dry soup mix and broth; pour over beef.
2. Cover; cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
3. Skim fat from liquid in cooker. Remove beef from cooker; place on cutting board. Cut beef across grain into thin slices or shred beef.
4 To serve, cut each baguette in half horizontally. Fill baguettes with beef; cut crosswise in half. Serve with broth for dipping.
Note: Beef mixture will hold on low heat setting up to 2 hours; stir occasionally.
Makes 8 servings.
