Blessed to Give

The BND features a different charity every day from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. If you know a charity that should be featured, contact Lexi Cortes at acortes@bnd.com.

Bethany Place

Bethany Place in Belleville is the largest nonprofit, community-based HIV and AIDS service organization in the metro-east, serving 12 counties in Southern Illinois.

It provides free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, as well as services for individuals who have HIV and for their families.

Those services include case management, food pantry access, transportation, housing for men who have HIV and are homeless and rental assistance for families and individuals affected by HIV.

Bethany Place also offers free preventative and harm reduction services, which includes testing, speaking engagements, opioid overdose reversal trainings and mobile harm reduction services.

How to help

Volunteers are always needed to assist with office work, inside and outside maintenance, food pantry organization, special events and more.

Donations of money, food, toiletry items and children’s toys are welcomed during the holidays.
