Blessed to Give: Fontebella Maternity Home

Fontebella Maternity Home

Fontebella Maternity Home in O’Fallon offers shelter for expectant mothers in a crisis pregnancy who find themselves alone or without safe place to go. The organization helps an average of 12 women and their babies a year. Women help with chores, cook and eat meals together like a family in the six-bedroom house. The average stay is six to nine months.

How to help

Volunteer as a peer counselor, by providing transportation, with maintenance in the house, with clerical work, or fundraising, among other things. People may make a monetary donation through the organization’s website or donate gently-used household items, clothing, furniture, electronic items, or bedding to help young mothers who are starting out on their own. Items not given to mothers are sold in order to help pay Fontebella expenses, such as utility bills.
