Gear Jammers are ready for car show and cruise

Jim Seibel’s 1937 Master Deluxe Chevy two-door seda will be among 200 cars at Belleville Gear Jammers Car Show on Sunday.

Its flashy orange color will catch your attention.

The show is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Crehan’s Irish Pub & Banquet Center, 5500 North Best West, next to Skyview Drive-In. As a special 9/11 memorial tribute, cars will cruise Main Street at 4 p.m.

We asked Jim a few questions:

Q: How did you get your car?

A: I purchased the car from my neighbor who took the fenders off to put them on another car he bought.

Q: What is your favorite feature of the car?

A: I like how smooth and steady it drives.

Q: How much work did you put into it?

A: It took years of hard work and a lot of money to get it to where it is today. I have to thank my wife (Gloria) for her help because she did all the upholstery for the interior.

Q: How did you get interested in cars?

A: I was a mechanic at Wagner Buick for over 30 years and after I retired I wanted to stay busy, so I kept doing the thing I loved most which was working on cars.

Q: What do you like about being part of Gear Jammers?

A: It’s a group of us older guys who like cars, but the best part is that everyone is welcome. Doesn’t matter if you have a Lexus or a dune buggy, we don’t turn anyone away.”
