Race for Recovery

The National Alliance on Mental Illinois, Southwestern Illinois, will have the 2017 Race for Recovery 5K at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Gateway Grizzlies GCS Ballpark, 2301 Grizzlie Bear Blvd., Sauget.

The one-mile Walk for Awareness begins at 8:15 a.m. Packet pickup and race day sign-in is from 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m. The cost is $30 and registration closes on Friday, May 12. This event features mental health provider booths, family activities, playgrounds, llamas and a guest speaker from U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth’s office. The race provides funds to mental health programs for 12 southern Illinois counties. Information: bit.ly/NAMIrace.

Grief support group

The Green Mount Catholic Cemetery has a grief support session at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Cemetery Chapel, 679 S. Green Mount Rd., Belleville. This group meets once a month. Information: 618-234-4858.
