Club News: Information about metro-east club meetings for May 28-June 3


▪ L.I.F.T. — A social club for widows and widowers will take a trip to watch the Cardinals play the L.A. Dodgers on Thursday, June 1. The cost will be $55. Pick up will take place at 10:45 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway W., Belleville. The group expects to return around 5 p.m.

▪ St. Clair County Genealogical Society — The society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at St. Luke’s Parish Hall, 226 N. Church St., Belleville. The meeting will feature, “You’ve Received your Ancestry DNA Results. Now What?,” a web video by Crista Cowan. Information:

▪ Optimist Club of Belleville — The next meeting of the Optimist Club will take place at noon Tuesday, May 30, at Bellecourt Place, 120 N. Jackson St. The featured speaker will be Lauren Theurekauf, an author who writes children’s books about her dog. Lauren will also bring her dog. Guests are welcome at the meeting.

▪ PFLAG Belleville — The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 115 W. B St., Belleville. The club’s preparation to participate in the upcoming Metro-East Pride Festival will be finalized. There will also be a viewing of a video about the late George Weinberg, creator of the term, “homophobia,” that discusses the fight against conversion therapy. Information: 618-977-5078 or
