Dupo native retires from U.S. Navy Reserve

Cmdr. Jeffrey A. McClanahan, a 1985 Dupo high school graduate, retired after 29 years of honorable service in the Navy Reserve. McClanahan last served as the joint mobility operations officer with the Joint Transportation Reserve Unit at Scott Air Force Base. The JTRU’s mission is to assist United States Transportation Command in providing air, land and sea transportation for the Department of Defense in times of peace and war.

Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois director

Kim Vrooman has been hired by the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois as its Director of Development and Communications. Vrooman has more than 15 years experience in development, communications/marketing and civic engagement. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville Meridian Society, board member of Southwestern Illinois College’s ‘Herstory’ Month Committee, and member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion.

New board member for Edwardsville Foundation

The Edwardsville Community Foundation, an organization that improves the quality of life in local communities, has a new member: Walt Williams. Williams currently serves as the city of Edwardsville’s Economic/Community Development Director. He has over 25 years of experience working on development projects. Williams has been responsible for attracting over $988 million dollars in new investments to the community, resulting in the creation of over 4,500 jobs. He currently resides in Edwardsville with his wife.
