Madison County Genealogical Society

The next meeting of the Genealogical Society will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville. Kelly Obernuefemann, a professor at Lewis and Clark Community College, will present, “Family Connections: Women of Antebellum Charleston.” Guests are welcome at this event.

Optimist Club of Belleville

The Optimist Club will meet at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Bellecourt Place, 120 N. Jackson St., Belleville. The program for the meeting is, “Yoga for Seniors,” and the speaker will be Edna Jeffries. Guests are always welcome.

House Rabbit Society

The public is invited to bring pet bunnies for free nail trims and scent gland cleanings at the next meeting of the House Rabbit Society from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in the Caseyville Township Building, 10001 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights. Please bring bunnies in a carrier and with a towel. No reservations are required and there is no cost to attend. Information: 618-632-2940.

PSOP Book Club

The PSOP Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at 201 N. Church St., Belleville. The title this month is, “The Little Paris Bookshop,” by Nina George. The discussion leader is Marilyn Merwin.

National Active and Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1019

The next meeting of NARFE will be at noon Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Golden Corral, 3360 Green Mount Crossing Road, Shiloh. The buffet opens at 11 a.m. Mary Jo Smith of Hospice of Southern Illinois will present an informative program.
