Mascoutah’s 91st annual ‘Homecoming und Augustfest’ is this weekend

Mascoutah’s three-day homecoming celebration will be Friday-Sunday, Aug. 4-6, at Scheve Park, Mascoutah.

Entry into the park is free and open to the public. This event features parades, live music, Mascoutah’s Homecoming Queen contest, 4-H judging, food and entertainment for the family. Carnival rides and food vendors will be open all three days.

Profits from the event will be reinvested in the Mascoutah parks and community.

Friday, Aug. 4

▪ 9:30 a.m. — Poultry show at the Agriculture Building.

▪ 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — General 4-H projects are open for viewing.

▪ 1 p.m. — Rabbit show at the Agriculture Building.

▪ 5 p.m. — Food stands open. Vendor food like lemon shakeups, hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes and snow cones as well as plates of traditional German food will be available.

▪ 5:15 p.m. — Fashion revue.

▪ 5:30 p.m. — 4-H Public Speaking contest.

▪ 6 p.m. — Swine show at the Agriculture Building.

▪ 7 p.m. — Plow and weight tractor pull.

▪ 7-11 p.m. — “Night Ryders” will perform at Scheve Park’s Pole Barn.

▪ 7:30-11:30 p.m. — “The Jorrells” will perform on the Train Depot stage.

Saturday, Aug. 5

▪ 7:30 a.m. — Beef, dairy, sheep and goat show at the Agriculture Building.

▪ 9 a.m. — Heritage Museum opens.

▪ 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — General 4-H projects are open for viewing.

▪ 10:30 a.m. — Food stands open at the Pole Barn.

▪ Noon — The main food stands open.

▪ 1-4 p.m — Armbands for unlimited rides will be available for $20 at the park’s ticket stands.

▪ 3:30-4:30 p.m. — Non-stop entertainment at the Pole Barn.

▪ 5 p.m. Grand Parade — The theme for this year’s parade is: “Salute to Scott Air Force Base: 100 years strong.” The parade features decorated floats, marching bands, clowns and more. The parade route goes down Main Street and turns on 6th Street, ending at Scheve Park. Attendees are asked to bring their own seating.

▪ 6:30-10:30 p.m. — “Cactus Moon” will perform at Scheve Park’s Pole Barn.

▪ 7 p.m. — Diesel Smokers tractor pull.

▪ 7:30 p.m. — 4-H Livestock auction at the Agriculture Building.

▪ 7:30-11:30 p.m. — “The Rough Ryders” will perform on the Train Depot stage.

Sunday, Aug. 6

▪ 7 a.m. — Bike ride.

▪ 7-10:30 a.m. — Breakfast will be served.

▪ 10 a.m. to noon — General 4-H projects are open for viewing.

▪ 10:30 a.m. — Super Showmanship contest at the Agriculture Building. Individual 4-H members sign up to display their showmanship skills.

▪ 11 a.m. — Food stands open.

▪ 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Tom and Kathy LaQuet at the Car Show.

▪ 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Car show. Trophies will be awarded.

▪ Noon — Project and Animal release.

▪ Noon-1 p.m. — Registration starts for the children’s pedal tractor pull.

▪ 1 p.m. — Children’s pedal tractor pull.

▪ 1-3 p.m. — A Clydesdale will make a guest appearance. Photo opportunities for families will be available. Sponsored by Grey Eagle Distributing.

▪ 1-4 p.m. — Berger-Kiel Log House open.

▪ 1-4 p.m — Armbands for unlimited rides will be available for $20 at the park’s ticket stands.

▪ 1-4:30 p.m. — “Gabie and the Broken Arrow” will perform on the Train Depot stage.

▪ 3 p.m. — Miss Mascoutah Homecoming Queen coronation.

▪ 7-10:30 p.m. — “Keep the Change” will perform on the Train Depot stage.

▪ 7 p.m. — Truck pull.

▪ 10 p.m. — Drawing for cash prizes. Donation: $1 each or 7 for $5. The winner does not need to be present to take home prize.
