‘Party at the Beach’ is this weekend, buy art to benefit the Humane Society

‘Party at the Beach’

The sixth annual “Party at the Beach” event will take place on Friday-Saturday, Aug. 11-12, at Randall D. Dalton Veteran’s Memorial Park, Pontoon Beach. Live music will be provided with “Vote 4 Pedro” performing at 4 p.m. Saturday and Tyler Hammond performing at 6 p.m. Saturday. The headliner this year is “38 Special,” who will perform Saturday night. The “Balloon Glow” will take place at sunset on Friday night. A craft and vendor show featuring items like miniature gardens, vinyl crafts, wind chimes and walking sticks will occur on Saturday. Freddy’s Food Truck will make its debut at the party. Art sales to benefit Belleville Area Humane Society

The Hamilton Gallerie d’Art is donating up to 65 percent of its sales during the month of August to benefit the Belleville Area Humane Society. The business is located at 8 S. Church St., Belleville. This promotion is close to the heart of Hamilton Gallerie d’Art as co-owner Lisa Hamilton’s dog, Marshall, was rescued at the Belleville Area Humane Society. Programs and Services for Older Persons travel program

Southwestern Illinois College Programs and Services for Older Persons will have a travelogue program meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the PSOP facility, 201 N. Church St., Belleville. Nancy Bauer, a group travel specialist, will talk about the planned 2018 PSOP trips that include Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Canadian cities.

‘Stand for the Silent’ fundraiser

The Garden Salon and Spa at 1407 S. Lincoln, O’Fallon will have a kid’s cuts fundraiser for Stand for the Silent from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. Walk ins only are being accepted at this event. Kid’s hair cuts will have a suggested donation of $5-$8. All money raised at this event goes to Stand for the Silent, an organization that travels to schools around the country talking to kids about speaking up when witnessing or experiencing bullying. Grave marking ceremony

The Illinois Society of the War of 1812 will have a grave marking ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Union Hill Cemetery near Millstadt. This event will place a memorial marker on Matthew Roach’s grave. Roach served as a private in Capt. Samuel Whiteside’s Company of Mounted Riflemen of the Illinois Militia during the War of 1812. The society is inviting descendants of the Roach family to participate. Attendees are invited to bring their own chairs. Information: Robert Ridenour, 618-377-9096.
