Teens can attend a free emergency training program in Belleville

Community emergency response training

The St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency will have “TEEN CERT,” a community emergency response training program, from Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 29-30, at the Belleville First Assembly of God, 900 Fair Oaks Drive, Belleville. This free program is appropriate for students age 12 through adults. Upon completing this course, attendees should be able to give basic medical treatment, shut down utilities and extinguish small fires following a disaster. Blood drive at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital will have a blood drive Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Prairie Heart Institute Building, 340 W. Lincoln St., Belleville. All presenting donors will be entered to win a $2500 vacation package and receive a voucher for a “Save Our Summer” themed t-shirt.

“To meet regional patient needs for blood and blood components, the Blood Center requires more than 2,000 donations from volunteer blood donors every week,” said Alissa Fuhrmann, donor relations consultant for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, in a press release. Hard Road Theatre auditions

Auditions for Hard Road Theatre’s upcoming fall comedy, “Plaza Suite” written by Neil Simon, will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, and Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Highland Elementary School Auditorium, 1800 Lindenthal Ave., Highland. Senior trip to Missouri Botanical Garden

The Edwardsville Parks and Recreation Department invites all seniors aged 55 and older to a trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden on Thursday, Aug. 24. The cost is $35 and includes transportation, garden admission and a private tram tour. Lunch is not provided. Tickets for ‘Glo Bingo Extravaganza’

The Anderson Hospital Auxiliary is having a “Glo Bingo Extravaganza,” on Sept. 29 at the Edwardsville American Legion. Advance tickets for $20 are on sale beginning Aug. 15 at the Anderson Hospital Gift shop or online at www.tribout.com. The event features 10 games, two 50/50 games, door prizes and raffle items. Walk-a-thon for the ‘Lights for Scholarship Fund’

The St. Joseph-Breese Auxiliary is hosting a walk-a-thon Sept. 9 at the hospital walking track, 9515 Holy Cross Lane, Breese. Money raised from this event will benefit the “Lights for Scholarship,” which provides grants to students going into healthcare. If participants register for this event by Friday, Aug. 18, the size of the commemorative T-shirt that they will receive is guaranteed.
