Arts and crafts shop is growing, moving to a larger location in Fairview Heights
For the second time in nearly 12 years in business, The Bead Place is moving to a larger location.
The arts and crafts shop will remain in Fairview Heights but is moving to 8 Plaza Drive in Market Place Shopping Center.
Market Place Shopping Center is where Best Buy, David’s Bridal and Burlington are located. The Bead Place is moving to the space between Jenny Craig and Dollar Tree.
The announcement was made Dec. 17 on both owner Abbi Berta’s YouTube channel and The Bead Place Facebook page.
In a 2 1/2-minute YouTube video, Berta gives viewers a “quick peek of the new digs” and talks about how they plan to use the larger space.
“This new larger location will allow us to increase our inventory and also … be able to more quickly and efficiently process online orders and wholesale orders,” Berta said in the video.
The new store will provide 3,845 square feet of space, compared to the 3,115 square feet at the current location.
Berta also talked about having more space flexibility for classes and events.
In addition to selling beads, yarn and other supplies, The Bead Place offers classes, custom designs and repairs. Customers are able to book parties and attend group events.
Berta added that they will set up the new shop during the month of January and plan to reopen at the new location in February.
The Bead Place first opened in March 2005 at 5200 N. Illinois St. The business was opened by Berta and her mother Rhonda Berta. Shortly after opening, Rhonda Berta’s sister Hanna Bertulis joined the business.
In 2016, the business moved to 5500 N. Illinois St.
The Bead Place will remain open through Saturday, Jan. 1, when it will have a one-day only trunk show from noon to 7 p.m. to say goodbye to the current location at 5500 N. Illinois St.
