The George E. McCammon Distinguished Speaker Series: Steve Burns — 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9. The Hettenhausen Center for the Arts, 400 N. Alton St., Lebanon. Steve Burns is an American actor and television host best known as the original host of the long-running children’s preschool television program “Blue’s Clues” from 1996 until 2002. After years of being the face of the much-loved “Blue’s Clues” series, Steve said his goodbyes to Blue in 2001 and went off to college. Program: “Hassloch Emigrants to Mascoutah and St. Clair County Environs.” More than 40 families came to Mascoutah from Hassloch, Germany, some as early as the 1830s. River-to-River Trail Society Hike: Crest Trail from Glen O Jones Lake to Stone Face — 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Meet at the Tecumseh Statue located in the Northwest Corner of Glen O Jones Lake on CR 625N. This will be a hike of moderate difficulty, 4.5 miles in length, 5 hours hiking time. The leader of the hike will be Marcus Owens who can be reached at 618-534-8139 for more information. This hike is intended for people in good health who have done some walking.
