It’s Halloween weekend. Here are some events to entertain youngsters in the metro-east

Wondering when to get out the costume and pumpkin pail for metro-east trick-or-treat events this year? Here’s a list of Halloween festivities in the area, from car shows, to parades and more.

Downtown Belleville Trick or Treat

Children 12 years and younger who are residents of Belleville are welcome to attend downtown Belleville’s trick-or-treat event. The festivities will include free hot dogs, treats and drinks, along with music, stories and more.

When: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28

Where: Downtown Belleville (East Main Street between High Street and Charles Street)

Trunk or Treat in Glen Carbon

“It’s that time of year again! We are excited to invite you out for an early round of trick or treating at our fifth annual Trunk or Treat! While you’re filling your bags with candy, come inside and enjoy complimentary hot dogs, chips, and hot cocoa. We are located directly behind the Glen Carbon Wal-Mart. We hope to see you there!”

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28

Where: Edwardsville Masonic Lodge No. 99 (90 Kriege Farm Road, Glen Carbon, IL 62034)

Trunk or Treat Car Show in O’Fallon

“Cruise in with your classic decked out in its best Halloween dress for all the little ghouls and gals. There will be special awards given out to the best tricked out trunk as well as for best costume.

“Enjoy pastries and coffee (while supplies last), along with themed games and activities. Attendance prizes will be announced throughout the event. All makes and models are welcome with plenty of parking available. This event is free and open to all ages of the public.”

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

Where: Gateway Classic Cars, 1237 Central Park Drive, O’Fallon, IL

Dracula Spectacula in Swansea

“There will be free games & prizes, Trunk or Treat, coloring contest and scary stuff. Dress up in your costume and bring the family for a fun evening.”

When: 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

Where: Melvin Price Park in Swansea, Ill. (In the event of rain, Dracula Spectacula will be held at the Thompson Center across the street.)

Collinsville Halloween Parade

“At 6:00 p.m., as the dusk takes over the village of Collinsville, all ghosts, ghouls and goblins and anyone else who ventures in meet at the foot of the balcony at the Canton Historical Museum. River Bones Collins greets the crowd, the candy flows and the Halloween magic takes over. Each year, the pre-parade antics of various characters on the balcony along with various forms of ghoulish and ghastly entertainment are featured such as an annual screaming procession. You will also witness a cannon shooting off flying ghosts and treats.”

When: Gather at 6 p.m., parade at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

Where: Main Street in Collinsville

Trunk or Treat in Fairview Heights

“Bring your family and friends for a candy-crazed afternoon of trunk or treating! Costumes encouraged.”

When: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30

Where: Christ Church Fairview Heights Campus, 339 Frank Scott Parkway East, Fairview Heights, IL 62208

Trick-or-Treat at the City Foundry STL Food Hall

City Foundry STL merchants such as STL Toasted, 4Hens Creole Kitchen, Golden Gems, Procure, Sanctioned, May’s Place, Kalbi Taco Shack, Fordo’s Killer Pizza, and Buenos Aires will be handing out treats. People trick-or-treating are encouraged to wear their costumes and enjoy the night before Halloween exploring City Foundry STL.”

When: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30

Where: City Foundry STL, 3730 Foundry Way, St. Louis, MO

Trick or Treat Tent City in East St. Louis

“The Trick or Treat Tent City at City Hall will provide candy, treats and the Mayor’s Haunted House to youth free of charge who are residents of East St. Louis. Hosted by Mayor Robert Eastern III, The City of East St. Louis and the National Pan-Hellenic Council of East St. Louis.”

When: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31

Where: East St. Louis City Hall, 301 Riverpark Drive, East St. Louis, IL
