Original ‘Grease’ cast and car roll into Belleville drive-in for May event

“Grease is the word” for the first weekend of May in the metro-east.

Original cast members and the movie’s original Greased Lightning car are heading to Belleville’s Skyview Drive-In for a special “Grease” fan event the weekend of May 1 and 2. The event, which runs from 5-8 p.m. each day ahead of the film screening, is organized by Greaseville USA.

Rydell High football captain Tom (Lorenzo Lamas), T-Birds Doody and Sonny (Barry Pearl and Michael Tucci), Pink Lady Jan (Jamie Donnelly) and the waitress (Ellen Travolta) are scheduled to appear, along with movie director Randal Kleiser and casting director Joel Thurm, a news release states.

They’ll be meet and greets, photo opportunities, autographs, displays and plenty of “Grease” merchandise.

The release also explains the venue itself is significant.

“The historic Skyview Drive-In provides the perfect setting for the celebration, recreating the nostalgic moviegoing experience that fans remember from the era when Grease first hit theaters,” the news release states.

Tickets are sold online at bit.ly/Greasefanevent. General admission, which includes meet and greets, are $22 for adults and $10 for children ages 3-12.

VIPs get access to the event two hours early, first in line for meet and greets, priority parking for the drive-in showing and Grease merchandise, the website states.
