Crime Blotter June 4

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of local law enforcement agencies and court clerks. Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY FELONIES

FRIDAY, MAY 20

Jeremy B. Piel, 34, of 102 N. 10th Drive, East Carondelet, arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery on or about May 14 by East Carondelet police. Piel allegedly, knowingly caused bodily harm to a female minor, initials A.L., date of birth, Jan 11, 2005, while on State Street, East Carondelet, a public way, in that said defendant struck A.L. about the head, face and body with his hands and/or feet.

Jason R. Hampton, 39, of 421 N. 22nd St., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of armed violence, unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a place of worship and unlawful possession with the intent to deliver cannabis on or about Nov. 7, 2013 by Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois. Hampton allegedly, while armed with a dangerous weapon, a .40 caliber handgun, in that he while within 1,000 feet of a place of religious worship, the West End Missionary Baptist Church, located at 488 N. 22nd St., East St. Louis, knowingly possessed with the intent to deliver one gram or more but less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine; while within 1,000 feet of a place of religious worship, the West End Missionary Baptist Church located at 488 N. 22nd St., East St. Louis, knowingly possessed with the intent to deliver, one gram or more but less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine; knowingly and unlawfully possessed with the intent to deliver more than 30 grams but less than 500 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

Edwin R. Wierciszewski, 41, of 49 Beth Ann Drive, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence and driving while driver’s license is revoked, subsequent on or abour May 17, by Belleville police. Wierciszewski allegedly drove a red 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix on South Belt East in Belleville, while defendant was under the influence of alcohol and during a period in which the defendant’s driving privileges were revoked. Defendant had been previously convicted of driving while license is revoked on March 5, 2014.

Amy M. Hart, 33, of 1226 Imogene, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of retail theft on or about April 12 by O’Fallon police. Hart allegedly took merchandise from Walmart, 1530 W. Highway 50, O’Fallon, being a Dyson brand vacuum, lighter fluid, clothing and other merchandise, total retail value not in excess of $300.

Shain D. Endicott, 22, of 104 Pine St., Marissa, arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated battery and unlawful restraint on or about May 17 by Marissa police. Endicott allegedly, in committing a battery, knowingly made contact with Breanne Murphree, a pregnant person, in that he grabbed her by the wrist; grabbed her by the back ofher neck while applying pressure; would not let her exit the vehicle.

Shawn D. Nicholson, 47, of 33 York Port Drive, Belleville, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon on or about May 19 by St. Clair County sheriff. Nicholson allegedly,knowingly possessed six bullets. Defendant had been previously convicted of domestic battery, subsequent offense on July 23, 2009.

Adam L. Martychenko, 43, of 20 S. 97th St., Belleville, arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine on or about May 18 by St. Clair County sheriff. Martychenko allegedly had in his possession less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

Jesus A. Rangel, 39, homeless, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of methamphetamine on or about March 5 by Shiloh police. Rangel allegedly had in his possession less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine.

Anthony F. Lepore, 44, of 29 N. 78th St., Belleville, arrested on suspicion of unlawful restraint on or about May 17 by Illinois State Police. Lepore allegedly detained Amanda Landon in that he refused to allow her to exit the vehicle he was driving.

Dennis G. Cotton, 50, of 9811 W. State Route 161 Place, Fairview Heights, arrested on suspicion of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, subsequent on or about May 11 by Fairview Heights police. Cotton allegedly, a sex offender, knowingly failed to provide correct information regarding his residence to the Chief of Police of the City of Fairview Heights. Defendant had been previously convicted of the sex offender registration act, being unlawful failure to register as a sex offender on Aug. 6, 2015.

Kerion N. Hammond, 20, of 1244 N. 49th St., Washington Park, arrested on suspicion of first degree murder on or about May 17 by Fairview Heights police. Hammond allegedly, while attempting a forcible felony, armed robbery, and while acting in concert with Sean J. Redd and another individual, caused the death of Sean J. Redd when the victim resisted the attempted commission of the armed robbery and shot Sean J. Redd about his body with a firearm.

Antonio D. Long, 22, of 101 Service St., 1, Swansea, arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony possession on or about May 17 by Fairview Heights police. Long allegedly, a person who has been convicted of a felony, knowingly possessed at his residence a revolver; knowingly possession at his residence a pistol. Defendant had been previously convicted of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis within 1,000 feet from a school on Dec. 10, 2015.
