13-year-old Muscatine boy arrested for allegedly committing thefts, burglaries
A 13-year-old Muscatine boy was arrested Thursday in connection with several thefts and burglaries over the past two weeks.
Muscatine police said in a news release Friday that the teen is accused of multiple crimes that occurred between April 25 and May 6.
The teen is accused of stealing alcohol from Maverick Convenience Store, located at 1429 Park Ave., at about 10:38 p.m. on April 25. He is accused of stealing alcohol from the same store at 2:54 a.m. on April 27.
He also is accused of stealing alcohol from the Maverick Convenience Store located at 416 Cedar Street at 8:28 p.m. on May 4.
Early on the morning of May 6, the teen is accused of burglarizing a vehicle that was parked in the 300 block of Oak Street. At 3:11 a.m. also on May 6, the teen allegedly broke into Alex's Tobacco and Vape, 839 Park Ave., and stole merchandise from the business.
The teen is charged with:
* Third-degree burglary, one count, a Class D felony
* Burglary of a motor vehicle, one count, an aggravated misdemeanor
* Fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts, a serious misdemeanor
* Possession of drug paraphernalia, one count, a simple misdemeanor
* Underage possession of alcohol, one count, a simple misdemeanor
* Fifth-degree theft, three counts, a simple misdemeanor
After his arrest and the charges filed, the teen was released to the custody of a parent.
Police have not released the teen's name.
