Work to begin along Bettendorf's State Street on Tuesday

Work will begin Tuesday on Bettendorf's State Street from 17th Street to 23rd Street as crews make improvements to the roadway and sidewalks in the downtown area.

According to a news release issued Friday by the city, the project includes full-depth concrete patching, utility structure repairs and adjustments, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and other work.

Approximately 2,526 square yards of existing pavement and 5,874 square feet of existing sidewalk will be replaced.

Drivers should be aware of workers on site and of lane closures that move from day-to-day along State Street. The lane closures will last for the duration of the project.

Weather permitting, the first phase of the project is expected to be completed by July 3, with the second phase starting after the city's 4th of July parade.
