Central Illinois doctors warn alcohol can increase risk of heat illness amid Independence Day heatwave
BLOOMINGTON - With the heat wave hitting Central Illinois expected to last through Independence Day, physicians and officials alike are urging revelers to be cautious with alcohol consumption.
"No. 1: don't drink and drive," said Dr. Isaac Tudor, emergency medicine physician with Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. "No. 2: drink water while you're drinking alcohol to stay hydrated and to mitigate getting intoxicated. Because when it's hot outside and you're drinking, you're going to get drunk faster."
