These metro-east grocery stores close early for Christmas Eve. See holiday hours
Christmas is Thursday, Dec. 25, and you may want to check which Belleville-area grocery stores near you will be open for any last-minute ingredient needs.
You can expect your grocery bill to be higher than last year’s, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports grocery costs are up 2.7% from September 2024 to September 2025, the most recent month for which data is available. Non-alcoholic beverages have seen the steepest increase at 5.3%, while meat, poultry, fish and eggs are up 5.2%.
Most banks will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day as they are considered “bank holidays,” and the U.S. Postal Service will close for regular mail delivery, as well.
