Overview

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is a compact luxury coupe SUV like the BMW X4 and Audi Q5 Sportback. It trades the GLC SUV's boxier shape for a fastback-style roofline that adds sportiness and visual drama, while maintaining good practicality. The GLC 300 4Matic comes with a 255-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four, all-wheel drive, and a 9-speed automatic transmission, but there's also a 313-hp GLC 350e PHEV, a 416-hp AMG 43, and a 671-hp AMG 63 S E Performance, which we review separately.

Inside, there's space for up to five people, a fully featured and sophisticated infotainment system, and genuinely premium materials. The GLC Coupe is ideally suited to style-conscious people who want spirited performance with luxury credentials in a practical package.

What's New for 2025?

The 2025 GLC Coupe gets a new GLC 350e plug-in hybrid this year, with a 2.0L turbo-four, a 24.8-kWh battery, and 313 hp/406 lb-ft. It's good for a 54-mile electric range. The AMG GLC 63 also returns this year for the new generation, but in S E Performance guise, using a 2.0L turbo-four PHEV arrangement with 671 hp and 752 lb-ft.

A new AMG Lite package with a body-color rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels is now offered, and there are two new paint colors too: Alpine Grey and Verde Silver Metallic. Lastly, the infotainment system is updated to the third-generation MBUX setup with faster responses and over-the-air updates. Minor changes include a center front airbag, a 5G communication module, and a smartphone-based digital key.

Exterior

The GLC Coupe's dramatically sloping roofline adds a fastback-style tail and a lot more style. The familiar nose has a bold grille with a big center-mounted Mercedes three-pointed star, and LED headlights with a stern stare. The rear features a diffuser. Wheel options range from 19 to 20 inches in size, with 21s available. A panoramic glass roof and power liftgate are standard.

Interior

Inside, the GLC Coupe is very obviously a luxury vehicle, with heated power front seats, high-quality MB-Tex leatherette upholstery (Nappa leather is available), a panoramic glass roof, and adjustable 64-color ambient lighting. Rear-seat passengers get a decent 38.3 inches or headroom and 37.2 inches of legroom, but cargo capacity shrinks from the SUV's 24.4 cu-ft to 19.2 cu-ft, expanding to 52.6 cu-ft with the rear seat folded.

The updated MBUX infotainment system comprises a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen with a zero-layer menu concept. Features include navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice commands, and biometric authentication.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe's price list starts at $59,300 for the 300 4Matic, which is the best value. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, navigation, heated power front seats, wireless charging, and the MBUX suite. The AMG GLC 43 adds serious performance, but the $13,600 premium is difficult to justify.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Fastback silhouette with fairly small cargo penalty over the SUV
  • Third-gen MBUX is one of the best infotainment systems in class
  • 255-hp mild-hybrid powertrain is smooth, responsive, and fuel-efficient
  • Rich standard equipment for the segment

Cons

  • More expensive than competitors like the BMW X4 and Audi Q5 Sportback
  • Rear headroom is tighter than the standard GLC SUV
  • Interior storage and cupholders feel underdeveloped for the price
  • Software reliability complaints from some owners

Verdict

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe rewards people who want style and substance in equal measure in a compact luxury SUV, and it does so with fairly minor compromises. The trunk is 20% smaller than that of the SUV, but the rear seat is decently commodious. In exchange, you get a head-turning shape without ruining what makes the GLC SUV such a great car.

The newly updated MBUX system is one of the best in the class, and the list of standard features is generous even at the base level, though it should be at a price premium over the X4 and Q5 Sportback. The GLC 300 4Matic is the sweet spot, because the mild-AMG treatment of the GLC 43 adds nearly $14K to the price. In the end, the GLC Coupe is one of the most complete and stylish options in this market segment.
