Overview

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE electric midsize luxury sedan is essentially the German automaker's electric E-Class, built on a dedicated EV platform in three variants. These are the RWD 288-hp EQE 350+ with 308 miles of range, the EQE 350 4Matic with the same output and 267 miles of range, and the 402-hp EQE 500 4Matic with 266 miles of range.

Battery capacities vary between 90.6 and 96 kWh, and DC fast-charging at up to 170 kW is possible, replenishing the battery from 10-80% in about 32 minutes. The EQE prioritizes refinement over sportiness and is best suited for buyers who want traditional Mercedes luxury in a midsize electric sedan.

What's New for 2025?

All trims of the 2025 EQE Sedan receive new batteries and improved regenerative braking software for a more natural pedal feel, following customer complaints. The EQE 350 4Matic's battery stays at 90.6 kWh, but those of the EQE 350+ and EQE 500 4Matic increase to 96 kWh. The 4Matics see a range drop, while the 350+ increases by 10 miles, finally breaching 300 miles.

A center front airbag is added as standard for MY2025, and another interior update includes multi-contour seats with headrest pillows. Leather and Nappa leather seats now come with rear-passenger pillows as well. Soft-close doors are now offered as an option. There's a new paint color as well, called Moonlight White Metallic.

Exterior

The EQE's molten, cab-forward shape is certainly aerodynamically sound, but hasn't been universally well-received. It has a sloping roofline with an integrated rear spoiler and flush door handles. All-LED exterior lighting is used with a full rear light bar. A panoramic moonroof and 20-inch alloy wheels are standard, but various 20- and 21-inch designs are available.

Interior

The MBUX multimedia system pairs a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with a 12.8-inch OLED center touchscreen and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD Radio, SiriusXM, navigation, and a 15-speaker Burmester audio system. Standard amenities include heated 12-way power front seats with memory, 64-color ambient interior lighting, MB-Tex leatherette upholstery, a wireless charging pad, and dual-zone climate control.

Ventilated front seats, a pillar-to-pillar Hyperscreen display, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats are optional. The trunk has a rather skimpy volume of just 10.9 cu-ft, but the rear compartment is quite roomy, despite the sloping roofline, with 38.2 inches of legroom and 38 inches of headroom.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE Sedan's price list starts at $74,900 for the 350+, which delivers the longest range at 308 miles. The 500 4Matic costs $85,900 and adds the Hyperscreen, rear-wheel steering, and 402 hp for a more complete EQE experience.

Pros:

• EQE 350+ delivers 308 miles of range, the longest among non-Tesla luxury electric sedans, with a very quiet and composed ride that exemplifies Mercedes refinement
• The Burmester 15-speaker audio, 64-color ambient lighting, and available MBUX Hyperscreen create one of the most immersive and luxurious EV cabin experiences
• Rear-wheel steering on the 500 4Matic (up to 10 degrees) transforms maneuverability in tight spaces, giving this large sedan a turning radius smaller than a compact car

Cons:

• Acceleration in the base 350+ (6.2-sec 0-60) is slower than the gas-powered E 350 and significantly trails competitors like the BMW i5 and Genesis Electrified G80
• Trunk space is small for a midsize sedan, and the lack of a frunk limits overall cargo versatility compared to the Tesla Model S
• The heavily aerodynamic exterior design is polarizing, and the sloping rear roofline reduces both rear headroom and rearward visibility

Verdict

The EQE is arguably the most comfortable midsize electric sedan you can buy, with a whisper-quiet cabin and exceptional ride quality. The 350+ trim's 308 miles of range is also among the best in this segment, and it's the smartest choice for most people, though you can upgrade to the 4Matic if you need AWD for just $3K. The EQE 500 4Matic is a $13K jump instead, but it does bring a lot more power and that Hyperscreen to justify it. The EQE isn't a sports sedan, and not trying to be counts in its favor, as it's the last word in this segment for luxury, serenity, and range, delivering the true Mercedes-Benz experience in electric form.
