11 new cases of coronavirus announced in St. Clair, Madison counties
There are 11 new coronavirus cases in the metro-east, state and local health officials announced Saturday.
St. Clair County has nine new cases, according to the county health department. The state reported two new cases in Madison County. The total cases in the metro-east is now 45.
The Belleville News-Democrat initially reported just three new cases for St. Clair County because that was the information released by the Illinois Department of Public Health at 2:30 p.m. During a 3:30 p.m. news conference, the St. Clair County Health Department announced that the number was actually nine.
The St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency explained that the state’s numbers are only updated once daily.
These are the new patients to test positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus respiratory disease in St. Clair County:
▪ A woman in her 20s.
▪ Three women in their 30s.
▪ Two women in their 40s.
▪ A woman in her 60s.
▪ A man in his 50s.
▪ A man in his 60s.
The number of people to test positive statewide has risen to 3,491, an increase of 465 from Friday.
The death toll has also increased to 47 from 34 a day earlier. An infant was among those who died, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Saturday during his daily news conference.
