Coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois increase to 72 as pandemic worsens
The number of positive COVID-19 case in St. Clair County has increased from 31 to 41, according to the latest statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health and local officials on Monday.
St. Clair County officials previously have announced the deaths of two COVID-19 patients. One woman was in her 80s and the other was in her 30s and both of them had underlying health conditions.
In Madison County, the number of coronavirus cases increased from 12 to 16.
Overall, the region has 72 positive cases.
Here are the latest statistics for coronavirus cases as of Monday afternoon in southwestern Illinois:
▪ St. Clair County - 41, two deaths.
▪ Madison County - 13
▪ Clinton County - 6
▪ Monroe County - 4
▪ Randolph County - 2
▪ Washington County - 1
▪ Bond County- 2
The St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency said Monday that 294 people have been tested. There have been 41 positive cases, 201 have been negative and 52 are pending.
