CNN host Chris Cuomo tests positive for coronavirus — but he’ll keep doing his show
Chris Cuomo, host of CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” has come down with coronavirus but plans to keep doing his nightly show from home, the network says.
Cuomo, brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and son of former Gov. Mario Cuomo, announced on Twitter he’d tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
“I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I had fevers, chills and shortness of breath,” Cuomo wrote. “I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness!”
Cuomo said in the Twitter post that he’s quarantined in his home’s basement, joking that his family seems “pleased” by the development.
“I will do my shows from here,” Cuomo wrote. “We will all beat this by being tough and smart and united!”
On Monday, Cuomo interviewed his brother remotely from home for his show, which airs at 9 p.m. Eastern, and the two traded barbs about his basement set, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He has devoted much of his show in March to covering the coronavirus pandemic, the publication reported.
Over the weekend, CBS News announced that Maria Mercader, 54, a reporter for three decades, had died of coronavirus in a New York hospital.
