First positive case of coronavirus identified in Jersey County

Jersey County’s first positive case of COVID-19 was announced Wednesday.

The Jersey County Health Department said a man in his 50s tested positive for coronavirus and is currently hospitalized.

In a statement, officials with the health department said they are working to identify individuals the man may have come into contact with and encouraged Jersey County residents to continue practicing social distancing and good personal hygiene habits.

As of Wednesday, approximately 95 cases of coronavirus had been reported in the metro-east.
