Number of positive coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois reaches 119
The number of positive COVID-19 cases in southwestern Illinois has reached 119.
In St. Clair County, the number of cases increased to 53 and a third person has died from the virus, according to the St. Clair County Health Department. The latest death was a man in his 70s with underlying health conditions.
Officials previously announced the deaths of two patients who tested positive for COVID-19. One woman was in her 80s and the other was in her 30s. Both of them had underlying health conditions.
The health department reported that 422 people had been tested in St. Clair County as of Thursday, and that there were 142 pending results.
In Madison County, the number of coronavirus cases increased to 30. In total, 327 people have been tested in the county with 78 awaiting results, the Madison County Health Department reported Thursday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health has reported 7,695 cases of the virus on Wednesday. There have been 157 deaths total and 43,656 have been tested.
