Number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois reaches 186

The number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has increased to 186.

St. Clair County, which reported its first two cases March 14, announced Sunday that it now has 82 cases, an increase of four from Friday. The new cases include a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 70s and a man in his 40s.

“It’s clear we have not hit our peak yet,” said Samantha Bierman, a spokesperson for the county health department.

On Saturday, the county said it received confirmation of the first child to test positive for COVID-19, a boy under 10.

St. Clair County has announced three COVID-19 related deaths.

The county said 588 people have been tested, with 363 negative results and 143 pending.

Madison County also had one new case and Clinton County had three more on Sunday.

  • Monroe County: 8
  • Washington County: 1
  • Randolph County: 24
  • Bond County: 3
  • Jersey County: 1
