Number of coronavirus-positive patients in southern Illinois passes 200
The number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has increased to 210.
St. Clair County, which reported its first two cases March 14, announced Monday that it now has 86 cases, an increase of four from Sunday. The new cases include a man in his 30s, a man in his 40s, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 20s.
The county also has announced four deaths related to the virus. No other counties in the metro-east have reported deaths.
On Saturday, the St. Clair County Health Department said it received confirmation of the first child to test positive for COVID-19, a boy under 10.
As of Monday, the county said 615 people have been tested, with 389 negative results and 140 pending.
Madison, Washington, Randolph, Monroe and Macoupin counties all reported new cases Monday as well.
