Madison County reports four new coronavirus deaths

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in southwestern Illinois has reached 785, while the number of deaths has increased to 41.

On Wednesday, Madison County health officials announced four more people had died after testing positive for the virus, two men in their 70s and two men in their 80s. The county’s death toll since the pandemic started is now 13.

Previous deaths have also been reported in St. Clair County, which has 19, and Monroe County, which has eight.

Statewide, 1,565 people with COVID-19 have died. A total of 35,108 cases had been reported as of Wednesday afternoon by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
