Madison, Clinton and St. Clair counties all report new coronavirus related deaths
The number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois continued to increase on Monday, as did the number of virus-related deaths.
St. Clair, Madison and Clinton counties reported a total of six new deaths in the last 24 hours.
In St. Clair County, those deaths included man in his 80s with underlying conditions and a woman in her 80s with underlying conditions.
Madison County also reported the deaths of a woman in her 60s and a man in his 90s. It is unknown if either patient had underlying conditions.
Clinton County did not release details of either of its two new deaths.
The region has had 1,422 cases and 96 deaths since the pandemic began.
During his daily COVID-19 news conference, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s announced 2,349 new cases statewide, bringing the total number to 62,840. Officials also announced 44 new deaths for a total of 2,662 since the pandemic began.
