Belleville’s Four Fountains up to 79 possible coronavirus patients due to outbreak

The St. Clair County Health Department said Thursday that 16 more people at Four Fountains in Belleville have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms of the respiratory disease during a coronavirus outbreak there.

The total number of known or suspected COVID-19 patients out of the long-term care facility has grown to 79 to date, according to health officials.

The health department does not disclose whether those affected are residents or staff. It only says that the totals it reports daily are for long-term care or “congregate living” facilities with two or more residents or employees who have been diagnosed or are showing symptoms.

Two more deaths have also been connected to the outbreak at Lebanon Care Center, according to the health department’s Thursday update.

A total of 27 deaths have been reported out of residential facilities across St. Clair County, which is 49 % of the 55 deaths countywide.
