Shrine at Our Lady of Fallen Snows in Belleville offers drive-thru Mother’s Day blessings

Shrine Director Fr. David Uribe, along with Oblate Fathers Raul Salas, Elvis Mwamba and Juan Gaspar, wore medical face masks and stood at a distance to give the blessings to mothers in more than 100 cars for two hours, a news release from the Shrine said.
COVID-19 outbreak reported at White House
There has been an outbreak of the coronavirus among staff at the White House in Washington D.C., the New York Times reported Sunday.
Three top officials involved in the federal government’s response efforts have started two weeks of self-quarantine after two members of the White House staff — Katie Miller, spokeswoman for Vice President Mike Pence, and one of President Trump’s personal valets — tested positive for the virus, the report stated.
According to the Associated Press, Pence has chosen to self-isolate after being exposed to his aide that tested postitive.
The officials in quarantine are Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and Dr. Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.
Pritzker says Illinois won’t reopen unless standards are met
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritkzer appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper on Sunday. He said he’s not counting on the White House and that the state will continue to “go it alone” when it comes to ramping up coronavirus testing capabilities, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Pritzker also vowed that Illinois would not reopen the state’s economy until it meets “all the standards” set forth in his phased plan, the report stated. Making testing more widely available is fundamental to slowing the spread of the virus in the state, Pritzker said.
