Latest coronavirus numbers for southwestern Illinois include six new regional deaths
The metro-east has had 1,751 cases and 122 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.
Officials in St. Clair County announced three new deaths on Monday, a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 90s and a man in his 90s, all with underlying health conditions.
The county reported just two new positive cases on Monday, but those numbers do not include new cases from Memorial Hospital’s laboratory system, which had a glitch, St. Clair County Health Department spokeswoman Samantha Bierman said.
Madison County health officials also announced the death of a man in his 50s, but did not release whether or not he had underlying conditions.
Clinton County also reported two new deaths, but did not release details.
In the daily COVID-19 news release Monday, the state announced 1,266 new cases statewide, bringing the total number to 79,007. Officials also announced 54 new deaths for a total of 3,459 since the pandemic began.
