Madison, St. Clair report deaths, as southwest Illinois passes 1,900 COVID-19 cases

The metro-east has had 1,907 cases and 138 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic was declared.

Madison County officials reported two new deaths Friday, a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s. Whether or not the patients had underlying conditions was not released.

In St. Clair County, health officials reported one new death as well, a man in his 90s with underlying conditions.

Overall, on Friday, 44 new cases and three deaths were announced in southwestern Illinois.

In the daily COVID-19 news release Friday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,432 new cases statewide, bringing the total to 90,369. Additionally, there are 130 new deaths, bringing the total to 4,058.
