St. Clair reports 2 new deaths, as southwest Illinois coronavirus cases reaches 2,070
A total of 2,070 people in southwestern Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19 and 149 people have died, health officials reported Wednesday.
St. Clair County announced two new deaths, both women in their 90s with underlying health conditions. Overall, 27 new cases and the two new deaths were announced Wednesday. Additionally, late Tuesday, Clinton County reported a new death. No further information was provided.
Also on Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,388 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 146 more people have died statewide. Illinois has seen a total of 4,525 deaths across the state during the pandemic, officials reported Wednesday. A total of 100,418 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
The total number of administered tests in Illinois is 642,713, IDPH said in a news release.
