Police say driver suffered medical condition, crashed in fatal Bond County accident

A Redmon man is dead after crashing his tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 in Bond County on Tuesday.

Around 8:30 a.m., Harold L. Swaim, 44, was driving a tractor-trailer westbound on I-70 when the vehicle ran off the roadway to the left, went through the median and the eastbound lane then came to a stop in a field near milepost 47, a news release from the Illinois State Police stated.

Swaim was pronounced dead on the scene by the Bond County coroner. According to the release, Swaim suffered a medical issue while driving. An autopsy is planned.

The release said no further details would be available as of Tuesday evening.
