Three new deaths in Madison County raise region’s total to 172
Three COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Monday in Madison County to bring the total number to 57 in the county and 172 in southwestern Illinois.
A man in his 50s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 80s died, according to the Madison County Health Department. The agency did not say whether the persons had underlyling health conditions.
St. Clair County reported 18 new coronavirus cases Monday but no new deaths.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 31 new deaths Monday for a statewide total of 4,884. This increase in the daily death toll was the lowest since April 2.
Statewide, 112,017 people have tested positive for coronavirus.
Additionally, the latest IDPH metrics showed that Southern Illinois is on track to start Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan at the end of the current stay-at-home order Saturday.
