Illinois health officials report 1,622 new cases of coronavirus and 86 new deaths
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,622 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 86 more people have died statewide as of Friday.
Overall, Illinois has now seen a total of 5,272 deaths across the state during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 117,455 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
An additional 21,796 have been tested for the virus, bringing the total number of administered tests to 851,762, the agency said in a news release.
