Latest COVID-19 numbers in southwest Illinois include 2 new deaths, 2,446 total cases
Local health departments are reporting the number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has reached 2,447 as of Friday, and the number of deaths has increased to 188.
St. Clair County reported two deaths — a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 90s, both with underlying health conditions.
Overall, there were 44 new cases and two new deaths in the region Friday.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday reported 86 new deaths and 1,622 new positive cases, bringing the totals to 5,272 people who have died in connection with the virus and 117,455 infected. Additionally, 851,762 people in Illinois have been tested for the virus.
