Latest coronavirus numbers in southwestern Illinois include four new deaths
Local health departments are reporting that the number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has reached 2,403 as of Thursday, and the number of deaths has increased to 186.
Three deaths were reported in St. Clair County and one in Macoupin County.
The St. Clair County Health Department said all three persons who died had underlying health conditions. They were a man in his 80s and two women in their 90s.
In Macoupin County, a man in his 80s died in connection with the virus. The health department did not release additional details about this case.
Overall, there were 41 new cases and four new deaths in the region.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health on Thursday reported 104 new deaths and 1,527 new positive cases, bringing the totals to 5,186 people who have died in connection with the virus and 115,833 infected.
Overall, 829,966 people in Illinois have been tested for the virus.
Additionally, the latest IDPH metrics showed that Southern Illinois is on track to start Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan at the end of the current stay-at-home order on Friday.
