Latest COVID-19 numbers in southwest Illinois include 2 new deaths, 2,741 total cases
Local health departments reported Friday the number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has reached 2,741, and the number of deaths has increased to 207.
St. Clair County announced two new deaths, two men in their 70s with underlying health conditions.
Overall, the region saw 58 new cases and two new deaths announced Friday.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health said Friday that 1,156 additional people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 59 people died in the previous 24 hours. Meanwhile, the state surpassed 1 million tests administered —1,000,919 in total.
Illinois has seen a total of 5,795 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 125,915 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while 982,016 people have been tested for COVID-19.
