Illinois health officials report 929 new coronavirus cases, 116 deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Thursday that 929 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 116 more people have died.

Illinois has seen a total of 5,736 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 124,759 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

An additional 22,841 have been tested for the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of administered tests to 982,016, IDPH said in a news release.

Illinois moved into Phase 3 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Restore Illinois reopening plan on May 29.
