One new coronavirus-related death reported in St. Clair County as region total hits 205

Local health departments reported Thursday the number of coronavirus cases in southwestern Illinois has reached 2,681, and the number of deaths has increased to 205.

St. Clair County announced one new death, a woman in her 100s with underlying health conditions.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health said Thursday that 929 additional people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 116 people died in the previous 24 hours.

Illinois has seen a total of 5,736 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 124,759 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while 982,016 people have been tested for COVID-19.
